The palace is located in the Oltrarno district, just a short walk across the iconic Ponte Vecchio from the historic city center. It is easily reachable on foot or by public transport and stands as one of Florence’s most magnificent landmarks, making it a must-visit for art, history, and landscape lovers.
How to Get to the activity
From the historic center (Piazza della Signoria), it is a scenic 5-10 minute walk. Simply cross the Ponte Vecchio and continue straight along Via de’ Guicciardini until you reach the large sloping square of Piazza de’ Pitti.
Take lines 11 or 36 and get off at the “Pitti” stop, located right in front of the palace entrance. Alternatively, take the “C4” electric bus which stops nearby.
From the main Santa Maria Novella (SMN) railway station, you can take a taxi (approx. 10 mins) or walk for about 20 minutes through the beautiful streets of Florence.
Ask the driver to drop you off at “Piazza de’ Pitti”. There is a designated taxi stand right in the square for easy arrival and departure.
